Q & A:  About MCC for Newcomers
Is MCC a gay church? MCC was founded as a Christian church called to be in ministry to/with homosexual people.  As time passed, we have built on the original vision given to our founder (Rev. Troy Perry).  MCC has become an all-inclusive fellowship of churches – churches that welcome everyone.

How old is MCC? We were founded in October 1968 and celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2008.

How did MCC begin? MCC was founded out of the vision and calling of the Rev. Troy Perry.

Does MCC perform gay marriage? MCC believes that marriage should be freely available to all people, everywhere.  Where legal marriage is allowed for same sex couples, MCC offers marriage ceremonies.  In locations in which marriage for same sex couples is not legal, MCC offers Holy Unions – religious ceremonies that recognize the union of a same sex couple in the house of God.  NOTE:  MCC clergy are able to provide marriage or union ceremonies to any couple, heterosexual and homosexual.

Divine Peace is a bible believing, God-exalting church. Our goal is to see the children of God grow in their understanding of Christ enhancing all to become disciples. We are members of the Metropolitan Community Churches. In keeping with this large number of Christians around the world, we use tradition, scriptures, reason and experience as ways to worship and know God. We are a congregation diverse in background and vocation. Our membership has an ecumenical range of experiences to enrich our life and work. We enjoy an informal style of worship seeking to involve everybody in the life of the church and include them as part of the family.  As a congregation, we welcome and affirm persons of all sexual orientations. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are always welcome at God’s table. Whether you rarely open the doors of a church, or have attended somewhere for years, you are welcome at Divine Peace Metropolitan Community Church.

We believe everyone is a child of God, "fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139.14).
